Taylor Edwards in a California girl living her dream in Nashville, Tennessee. The 22 year old made the move in 2012 to further her artistry as well as study songwriting at Belmont University where country stars such as Lee Ann Womack, Trisha Yearwood, Minnie Pearl, and many others have attended. In March of 2015, Taylor was featured on the CW’s “Hart of Dixie” with her version of Sugarland’s “Little Miss” rounding out the series finale of the show. Taylor was also the first winner of the Grammy U #SongwritingShowdown, with over 100 songs entered, her song “Play Ya” earned her the opening spot at Nashville’s Grammy Block Party featuring acts Hunter Hayes, Lee Ann Womack, and Meghan Trainor. She was also on CMA Music Festival’s center stage at Bridgestone’s Visitor's center last year! Tay writes her own songs, which is such a great art work in country music these days. I write songs myself, so I know how much time and effort goes into it, and I am so thankful for Twitter because it introduces me to singer/songwriters such as Taylor. Her song "Young at Heart" gets me every time, I listen to it because it reminds me of the relationship I have with my mother and I love it! If it was playing on the radio I would turn it up and sing my heart out because it's that relatable and her voice is just so good it flows with the music! Her other songs "Play Ya" and "California Time" are both incredibly written. I think any girl can relate to "Play Ya" because you have either been through being played or know someone that has. With "California Time" you can jam out to it even if you aren't from Cali, because it has that flow that makes you want to move! "Pillow Talk" and "Basics" slow down the mood again with some heartfelt lyrics involving a boy, whereas you want him to figure out what he actually wants in your relationship (you can also relate to this if you aren't actually dating the boy as well.) The point is, you can feel all of the emotions within each song she has written, and not to mention (again) that her voice is kind of soulful and reminds me of Danielle Bradbery and Cassadee Pope combined! Who knows, maybe she'll be the next Lee Ann Womack? Get this girl a record deal! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twitter: @TaylorEdwards Instagarm: @TaylorEdwards Snapchat: @TaylorEdwards Facebook: Taylor Edwards YouTube: Taylor Edwards Tumblr: Taylor Edwards Website: TaylorEdwardsMusic.com

Bio: In 2002, David Nail debuted his single "Memphis" from an unreleased album for Mercury Records Nashville. The song peaked at number 52 on the Hot Country Chart which was just the beginning for Nail. With MCA Nashville, in 2009, Nail's first single off of his album I'm About to Come Alive, "Red Light," charted at number 7 on the Hot Country Chart and was certified gold. In 2010 "Turning Home" charted at number 20 on the Hot Country Chart. In 2011 Nail finally had his first number one single with 2011 with "Let It Rain" (featuring Sarah Buxton) and was certified gold! In 2013 Nail had another huge hit on his hands, and personally my favorite, with “Whatever She’s Got” charting number 1 on US Country Airplay, number 2 on the Hot Country Chart, and was certified platinum! Nail released “Kiss You Tonight” in 2014, which is still catching time on the radio, and just last year he released “Nights on Fire” which is the first single of his upcoming fourth studio album called, Fighter. Nail is on tour April 22- October 2, and stopped by Chattanooga for US101's Concert for a Cause raising money for the Special Olympics. Which, of course, I attended! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Concert Review: Last night (April 12th 2016) David Nail came to Chattanooga for an acoustic performance benefiting US101’s concert for a cause. I was really captivated from the time he took the stage until the show ended. I feel like David Nail has one of those old storytelling souls, or at least that’s the vibe I got from him in a more intimate setting. Nail’s voice is one of the best voices you will hear on the radio today, so when you see him sing live you’re just sitting there like “whoa, can this concert last longer?” because he is that good! He actually admitted to being nervous when he first started singing, but you couldn’t tell, he flowed through each song sounding stronger and stronger. He told cool stories from meeting David Cook to his wife and children, and he joked around with his piano saying, “If I mess up this song I’m blaming it on you, because you’re the local boy… just kidding!” In all honesty, if you haven’t seen David Nail in concert, go see him! His voice as I have said, is to die for! One of our local on air radio personalities, Kelly Bradshaw of US101, and I were chatting on social media about how much he made us swoon! Our Snapchats literally looked the same with all of the heart eyed emoji’s and hearts! Best of all, Nail performed “Sound of a Million Dreams” in honor of the late Merle Haggard. The song has a slight mention of one of Merle’s biggest hits, “Mama Tried,” so Nail thought this was the perfect song to pay tribute. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Follow David Nail on social media: Twitter: @davidnail (most active) Instagram @davidnail (most active) Facebook: David Nail YouTube: David Nail VEVO Website: DavidNail.com Spotify, iHeart and iTunes: David Nail Periscope: David Nail Go see him on tour! This week I would like to post a special tribute to Merle Haggard who passed away this morning, on his birthday, at age 79. Merle Ronald Haggard was an American country and Western songwriter, singer, guitarist, fiddler, and instrumentalist. A true gift to country music. Merle's band The Strangers helped create the Bakersfield sound, which is characterized by the unique twang of Fender Telecaster and the unique mix with the traditional country steel guitar sound, new vocal harmony styles in which the words are minimal, and has a rough edge. By the 1970s, Merle was aligned with the growing outlaw country movement, and he continued to release successful albums through the 1990s and into the 2000s. In 1994, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. In 1997, he was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. Haggard's first song was "Skid Row". In 1962, Haggard wound up performing at a Wynn Stewart show in Las Vegas and heard Wynn's "Sing a Sad Song". He asked for permission to record it, and the resulting single was a national hit in 1964. In 1966, Haggard recorded his first number-one song "I'm a Lonesome Fugitive", written by Liz Anderson, which became Haggard's first #1 single. The 1966 album Branded Man kicked off an incredible artistic run for Haggard. His huge hit "Okie From Muskogee", 1969's apparent political statement, was, according to some Merle Haggard interviews decades later, actually written as a humorous character portrait. He wrote it right when he got out of prison he says, "I knew what it was like to lose my freedom, and I was getting really mad at these protesters. They didn't know anything more about the war in Vietnam than I did. I thought how my dad, who was from Oklahoma, would have felt." Merle was beginning to attract attention from artists outside the country field, such as crooner Dean Martin, who recorded "I Take a Lot of Pride in What I Am" for his album of the same name in 1969. The Gram Parsons incarnation of the Byrds had performed "Sing Me Back Home" on the Grand Ole Opry and had recorded Haggard's "Life in Prison" for their album Sweetheart of the Rodeo the same year. In 1969 the Grateful Dead began performing Haggard's tune "Mama Tried", which appeared on their 1971 eponymous live album. Many more artists sang the legendary song, "Mama Tried" as well. In 1970 "The Fightin' Side of Me", was so unapologetically right that it left no doubt as to where he stood politically. It became his fourth consecutive #1 country hit and also made an appearance on the pop chart. In 2000, Haggard made a comeback, signing with the independent record label Anti and releasing If I Could Only Fly to critical acclaim. He followed it in 2001 with Roots, vol. 1, a collection of Lefty Frizzell, Hank Williams, and Hank Thompson covers, along with three Haggard originals. Merle accepted the prestigious award for lifetime achievement and "outstanding contribution to American culture" from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on December 4, 2010. On December 5, 2010 at a gala in Washington, D.C. he was honored with musical performances by Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill, Jamey Johnson, Kid Rock, Miranda Lambert and Brad Paisley. Merle has had so many chat topping songs throughout his long career, but in my opinion his most famous was "Mama Tried" listen to the song in Merle Haggard's memory below... rest in peace Merle, all of us are missing you down here. There will never be a man like Merle Haggard! As Eric Church said, "Pledge Allegiance to the Hag!" |
