The Young Fables is a duo consisting of Wes Lunsford and Laurel Wright, but they weren't always a duo! Laurel comes from Maryville, Tennessee. She says, "[She] started singing in church when [she] was just 3 years old. At age 10, the loss of [her] great papaw inspired [Laurel] to pick up [her] first guitar, and write [her] first song." During her sophomore year of high school is when she started taking music seriously. When she was 16 years old she won the Texaco Country Showdown out of the 50,000 that entered, and was the youngest to do so, and still is. The day after she turned 19, she moved to Nashville, she was a hostess, pursuing her goal of earning a full-time music career. In less than a year, she was able to accomplish just that alongside guitarist , and now duo partner, Wesley Lunsford. Laurel was a semi finalist on American Idol Season 13 and 14 and in the final Season 15 she made it into the top 48. In my opinion Idol was silly to let her go! On their website Laurel says, "Meeting Wes was a serious game-changer for me, and my music career. When my former lead guitarist backed out of a gig at the last minute, my drummer said he knew "a guy named Wes". From the first moment I heard Wes play, I've never wanted another guitarist. He's not only one of the most talented people I've ever met, but also one of the most hardworking people I've ever worked with. Wes was my lead guitar player for about a year and a half before I moved to Nashville. Just before I moved, Wes told me he wanted to be part of anything and everything that he could be part of. We haven't played a show without each other in over a year, we write all of our songs together and he brings something completely unique to our songs." Wes Lunsford was born in Tallassee, Tennessee. At age 9 Wes started taking piano lessons and continued learning for 2 years. After that at age 14 he started learning guitar after his mom bought him one for Christmas. At age 15, he started a band and was the lead vocal and lead guitar player. 4 years later they were offered a record deal, but turned it down, the band soon went their separate ways and broke up. After Wes went to college he had the opportunity to play music in China for 6 months, 7 days a week. They wanted him to stay and sign a record contract with them, but he chose to come back to the United States and play country music. After his return to the states he played country music for a small label's various artists in East Tennessee. Wes says, "[He] knew from the moment we (himself and Laurel) started working and writing together, that [they] had something very special. I got the chance to meet Laurel and Wes when they came to Chattanooga to play a show, and they absolutely blew me away. Their talent and passion for music was undeniable, they were also two of the nicest, and funniest people I have ever met. Laurel has one of the prettiest voices I have ever heard, and Wes plays guitar like Brad Paisley and Keith Urban combined. *note, if you see them perform request Purple Rain, trust me.* How these two don't have an record deal, and 11 number one hits I have no idea. They have a self tilted CD, and are writers on every single song on there. It's amazing, I love every song, but I think my favorite is "Completely" to me it's just such a beautiful song. I could go on and on about how talented these two are, but I'll finish by saying you have to, HAVE TO, check them out if you haven't already. I'm so glad I got the chance to meet them, my friends, The Young Fables y'all. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Follow their socials: iTunes: The Young Fables Snapchat: itslaurelxo
