Kayla Woodson is an aspiring country artist trying to help break the mold for women in country music. Kayla Woodson grew up in the small town of Waggaman, Louisiana, but currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee. As a young girl Kayla knew she wanted a career in music. At age seven started to play the Texas and Louisiana Opry circuit, and by age ten she was performing with her band at parades, parties, and festivals across the region. In 2004, Kayla traveled to Italy to train at the Bocelli School of Music, and then in 2005 she traveled to Romania to represent the United States at the Golden Star Children’s International Talent Fest, where she placed second in the world. By the time Kayla was fifteen she was already writing her own music and released an album titled I’m Movin’ On, which included four original songs. In 2012, Kayla followed her dreams and moved to Nashville to study at Belmont University, where country greats Trisha Yearwood, Brad Paisley, and Lee Ann Womack studied. Kayla has roots in country, rock, and soul music, and her influences range from Stevie Wonder to Journey to Dolly Parton and Carrie Underwood. Once she had the opportunity to sing on stage with Lady Antebellum. She has had mentions on The Bobby Bones Show and Ty, Kelly, and Chuck and Music City is taking notice. Currently in 2017 Kayla has performed on the Hard Rock Cafe for CMA Music Festival, the Rivers and Spires Festival, and was in the Ty, Kelly, and Chuck studio for a "10 Minute Tune" numerous times, and has performed at other various venues. In 2016 she won The Beaver 100.3's Songwriter Search contest with an acoustic performance spot. 2015 was also a great year for Kayla, where she performed for the first time on the Hard Rock stage at the CMA Music Festival, she also played shows all over Nashville’s famous Broadway, and she released of her first single “Fan for the Flame” to country radio. Since moving to in Music City, in 2012, Kayla has used that time to focus and develop in her songwriting. She released her self-titled EP in April of 2016. The Kayla Woodson - EP is a collection of five original songs, written or co-written by Kayla herself. Kayla Woodson's voice is very strong and powerful. She immediately captures your attention with the first lyric. I cannot wait to see the even bigger impact she will make in Nashville throughout the upcoming years of her career. Kayla could be the next Carrie Underwood in Music City, trust me when I say she is one to watch.
